DAEP Intake Information:

  • DAEP intake meetings are held each morning promptly at 7:30 a.m. at Nottingham Alternative Education Center. Please check in at the front office by 7:25 a.m.  Please note, your child must be in dress code to begin their assignment at DAEP. Students arriving at the intake meeting who are not in dress code will not be able to stay beyond the intake meeting.
  • A parent or guardian is to accompany each student to the intake meeting in order for the student to attend the DAEP. Students and their parent/guardian are required to attend the intake meeting with each new DAEP placement.
  • Concerns about the student’s placement at the DAEP are to be addressed at the student’s home campus.
  • Students will have the same cafeteria account as they have on their home campus. If a student is eligible for free or reduced meals on their home campus, they are also eligible at DAEP.
  • Breakfast is not provided on the day of intake, please have your child eat before the intake meeting.
  • Meals can be paid for daily, weekly or monthly.  Students may bring cash or make checks payable to DISD Child Nutrition or pay online. The students are not allowed to bring in breakfast but may purchase it at school.  They may also bring a well-balanced lunch from home in a clear zip-lock bag with no open drinks, no soda or energy/coffee drinks or glass containers.
     

DAEP Dress Code For Students:

  • Shirt – White Polo style or dress button-down shirt (long or short sleeve). Any logos must be school appropriate and not larger than 1 inch. Shirt must be tucked in at all times while on campus…this includes before and after school. Students are expected to wear their shirts correctly throughout the day (no pulling arms inside shirt).
  • PantsFull-length pants with belt loops that are black or khaki in color. The bottom of the pants must be unrolled and remain on the outside of the shoe. No blue jeans, cargo style, jogger style, athletic, leggings, capri, crop or riding pants. Secondary students--the pants must not have elastic, holes, decoration or fraying.  Elementary students--may have pants with elastic and are not required to have belt loops. Pants must be worn at the waist for all students.
  • Belt – Secondary students must wear a school appropriate belt. Elementary students are not required to wear a belt.
  • Shoes – Students must wear closed-toe, closed-heel shoes only (tennis shoes, hey dudes, or similar). Sandals, flip-flops, open-toed shoes, slides, crocs, house shoes, etc. may not be worn.
  • Undershirts – If worn, must be solid white, black or gray (long or short sleeve), no visible writing/graphics.
  • Proper undergarments – Students must wear proper undergarments…basketball shorts, leggings, swimwear, and associated items are not considered proper undergarments and will require a parent to bring proper undergarments to school for their student.
  • Outerwear – All jackets, coats, sweaters will be kept in the cafeteria and returned to the student when they leave the building. It is the student’s responsibility to pick up these items as they depart the cafeteria at dismissal.
  • Jewelry – Students are not allowed to weary any jewelry while at DAEP. This includes piercings, watches, rings, earrings, necklaces, grills, bracelets, and any other jewelry type item. Students who arrive with such items will be required to leave them in the office. The first time this occurs, the item(s) will be returned to the student at the end of the day. The second and any subsequent times, the item(s) will be returned at the end of the student’s DAEP placement. Any items not claimed by the end of the school year will be discarded.
  • Cosmetics – Students are not allowed to have painted nails. This includes nail polish and acrylic nails. Additionally, students may not wear unnatural contact lenses, false eyelashes/eyelash extensions, etc.
  • MakeupStudents are not allowed to wear any makeup while at DAEP.
  • Tattoos – No visible tattoos.  All must be covered before arriving to campus and remain covered while on campus.
  • Extra clothing under the dress code outfit is not allowed. This includes any kind of leggings, shapewear, spandex, shorts, etc.
  • Clothing, belt and shoes must fit the student. Excessively large or small dress code items are not permitted.  
  • Electronics and personal items are not allowed on campus. Parents will be required to pick up any such items if a student is found to have them on campus.
  • Students are not allowed to have or wear any other items deemed inappropriate by campus administration.
  • Hair
    • Hair must be a natural color and age-appropriate. No hair accessories, designs in hair, scalp or eyebrows or style that would create a disruption/distraction in the classroom.
    • Hair must be worn in a style above the eyes and pulled up if hair is below the shirt collar. Hair must be pulled up in a tight ponytail, braid or bun. Solid color hairbands no wider than 2 inches and without decorations are permitted to help secure pulled back hair. The hairband cannot be worn below the bottom of the hairline. No hair clips or pins are allowed.
    • Facial hair is permitted as long as it remains clean and neatly groomed to a length no longer than one-quarter inch. Beards and goatees must not extend in length past the chin or onto the neckline, sideburns must not exceed the bottom of the earlobe. Facial hair must be the natural hair color and may not be styled in a manner that is distracting. Sideburns may extend no lower than the bottom of the ear and must be trimmed in a straight line without flares at the bottom.
